My work is the product of an unpredictable journey of discovery. I take a simplistic approach where my sole aim is to create visually stimulating products.
Textiles are my chosen medium; I feel at ease with fabric and love how it can be manipulated to transform its original state. The role of clothing has changed through time, once a practical solution it has now developed into a form of expression for people. The notion that by creating designs other people wear means our personalities and emotions are connected.
My degree show explores the theme ‘What is British’. I took influence for form, colour and materials from days out in the great British countryside and carnival costume. I’m concentrating on these as they are integral to British identity and stimulate imagination. My range of wearable art is a playful extension of dreams; it reaches the people who dare not to buy the extreme dress they see in the shop window. If you want to add a little quirkiness into your style but not overpower those around you, these accessories are a must for you.
