My work is inspired by both natural landscapes and architecture, resulting in a fusion of organic and geometric design. This striking series of contemporary sculpture is based upon principles of balance and proportion; the effect achieved being a play on the viewer’s visual perception and perspective. My aim is for the viewer to give in to their curiosity and explore the pieces, observing them from every angle.
Geometric precision and the crisp line of the ‘halos’ enhance the raw texture of the naked clay, as do the fresh glazes. The contrasting black and white clays intensify the effect the light has upon the pieces, creating intriguing shadows. As a collection the pieces engage with one another, with the halos echoing in a playful rhythm.
